Role of the Sales Manager

The Sales Manager is primarily responsible for driving the effectiveness of sales teams to ensure the delivery of sales outcomes. The Sales Manager utilises well developed interpersonal skills to motivate and lead sales teams to expertly implement sales strategy and tactics.

Career Development

The role of the Sales Manager is one of great responsibility as this role is pivotal in managing a company's most valuable asset, its people.

Successful Sales Managers may be provided the opportunity to experience other departments such as marketing within an organisation or they may progress to manage larger and more diverse sales teams before moving to Senior Sales Management roles which generally require the management and development of other managers.

It is common for Sales Managers to become Regional Sales Managers, National Sales Managers, Sales Effectiveness Managers or Sales Directors.
